I-864 Federal Income Tax Return Question(s)

How do I answer 23a of Part 6 on I-864 if I filed a Federal tax return for 2018, but was not required to file for 2017 or 2016? I was a student during this time and was claimed as a dependent. Do I say ‘no?’ If so, how might I answer 24 b-c and 25?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide! I’m a bit stumped on how to respond to these, since I filed once in the past three years and the questions seem to assume you either filed all the years, or none of the years.

23a. No

24 b. 2017, $0

24 c. 2016, $0

25. Check it and write a supplementary statement explaining why you didnt have to file in 2016 and 17.
