You still answer the questions and get the backup together.

Speaking of a back up, Im working on that now (getting my ducks in a row) 😂

I have all of the possible "co sponsors" income level and all kinds of Pension, Annuities and IRA info from a recent tax return.

For her, my question is this.. does she need to fill out the same I-864 and I noticed a I-864 form also?

One or the other OR both?

In reference to the co-sponsor, a single transcript of her taxes filed. that would be sent in with the I-864 app? I understand if thats the case.

I also requested my transcript of taxes.. never had those before. Just a heck of a lot easier than sending the whole tax docs over..

Transcripts are awesome.  They are easy to get and so much easier than getting everything else together.  The transcript goes with the I-864.  If the income is enough, they do not have to fill out the rest of the form with assets and banking info.

They don't.  That is not required.  NVC requires the LATEST tax transcript but mentions that you CAN include two previous years if you feel it will help your case.  RV simply doesn't know what they are doing but they make a lot of money.  $26k meets the requirement for 2 and is just short of 3.

So true!  RV will be mailing my packet today and they keep reminding me that I was $334 short in 2016 and I need a joint sponsor. Each time I talk to them I get a different answer. A person there last week said "do not worry, they look at your LAST year" primarily. Somewhere in the RV system they have drilled all agents there that even if 3 years back is low, and current income is high......you need a joint sponsor.NO MATTER YOUR ASSETS. I have sent to RV info on all 3 homes I have, paid off and current tax assessments. Ed Jones retirement account(failrly large),bank statements for last 7 months and so on. $700,000 in assets with $151,000 in liquidity and they STILL TELL ME I PROBABLY WILL NEED A JOINT SPONSOR because almost 4 years ago I was $334 short. I also sent RV the health insurance provider for when my wife touches down on American soil. RV said "well, that is on hold now." THINK RV THINK !  So what if it is on hold....I can provide health insurance which how does one know if others ever will. The agent still didn't "get it".

They are completely clueless.  Just move forward.  Don't listen to them.  I used an insurance card for my wife and step kids in our petition.  It just made sense to do that and at the time they never even talked about any executive order.  I cant believe they would even comment.  It is never bad to show insurance info as part of relationship or financial support.

w0w....thanks for the quick response. They sure know how to make people more anxious than they already are. I Googled quite a bit when I began this process and VJ never came up! Surely the most if not the most informative site on the net for this. I am 66,she is 56,both our parents are dead and I would NEVER ask for a co or joint sponsor. I can't even imagine to have someone who has never met my wife or who makes substantially less than  myself to be financially responsible for someone they have never met. Some of these joint or co-sponsors I believe do not know what they are getting into if the worst happens. Thanks for your time !

In my experience the CO's are pretty decent.  They have the job to help prevent public charge.  I've seen approvals where the couple barely makes the minimum but they are hard workers.  With CR/IR the beneficiary can work right away.  My wife and two step kids all had jobs here within a couple weeks.  Each of them earns between $600 and $800 every two weeks.  That really helps with the transition.  They get to shop with their own money!

Yes,that must make them feel awesome to be able to help the family out and earn their way so to speak.

My wife has been a private chef in Dubai for 30 years will probably just drop right into a  chef position here after a couple of months. Going to wait for culture shock to abate a bit. Never been in snow but seen it from afar only. I live in the snowiest town in Idaho.

My filipina wife saw snow in Korea but my step kids never did.  We had a little dusting of less than an inch and they thought it was amazing.  I cant wait for a real blizzard.  We are here in Chicago.
