Another show I loved growing up - and in reruns late at night just before I moved south - is "Forest Rangers". I always envied them that they got to ride around everywhere on horses and do all sorts of fun things as junior rangers:-).

I rememmber Tiny Talent Time, Don Messer's Jubilee and the Littlest Hobo too:-). Heheh - and I can still sing the Littlest Hobo theme song as well!

Anyone else remember Chez Helene? It came on just before The Friendly Giant when I was a kid.

Remember Peter Puck quite well--the mascot for Hockey Night in Canada.

Thought cute till the term was applied to refer to Pocklington (As a "grafted-in" Calgarian, I prefer to call him "Peter Pox").

I think some of them are location specific, we lived in Oakville, so we got the Buffalo and Toronto channels.

I remember Romper room too, I'm not sure if I watched it, or if it was my younger sister. But it was on the tv.

The Littlest Hobo! It still runs on TV. I think CTV shows it on Sundays or something. It was on the last week I was in Canada before I moved!

according to TV Party.com Romper Room was a "franchise" that originated in the US. So we each probably remember our own version of Romper Room, depending which city/province we're from.

Kim Mitchell *is* Max Webster btw. The band Max Webster broke up in the late 70s or maybe early 80s, then the lead vocalist, Kim Mitchell went solo. I much preferred Max Webster to Rush, who for some reason is the more popular Canadian band from the era, and is more well known south of the border.

I also remember Commander Tom, that was from Buffalo. Tom was also the weather man on WKBW Buffalo. No idea what Pomo the Robot or Chez Helene is though. Maybe a different time-line or region?

Beachcombers was a show from BC about beachcombers (log salvagers) along the BC coast. Also, it was the longest running made in Canada dramatic TV show, from 1972 to 1990, and was syndicated around the world.

I enjoyed the Beachcombers.

Chez Helene may also be before your time, however, I grew up in Quebec so it may just have been regional. Helene was an older woman with a niece Louise who lived with her who had a pet mouse (puppet) and they would tell stories and learn about French and Canadian culture. It was actually in French but designed for an English speaking audience as the niece would go back and forth explaining things in both French and English. The audeience was for kindergarten and younger.

I know of Commander Tom but we didn't get that show in Quebec. No one else remembers The Forest Rangers? I loved that show! It took place in Northern Ontario, filmed in the early 60s.

I remember the Beachcombers!!!

I also loved Degrassi junior high and Degrassi high. I will still watch those when they are on.

Not so much a fan of the Next Generation though.
