You know it's really not about religion. It's about unfair bias and attacking of a particular group. I'm not a religious person. I can joke about Islam with the best of them. I just would like an even playing field. Let's joke about Christians or Jews now.

Sure. There are tons of stories online about crazy rabbis and their crazy rulings. Post one and I'll be the first to yuck it up:)

Let's start with crazy Copts:

Pope Shenouda in anti-Semitic outburst

Monday, 21st May 2007. 10:55am

By: George Conger.

THE LEADER of the Coptic Church, Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria told Egyptian television last month the Western Churches were wrong to exonerate Jews for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and criticised recent statements apologising for Christian anti-Semitism.

In an interview with Dream 2 TV broadcast on April 8, Shenouda was asked if the Coptic Church would follow the lead of the Western Christian churches. Shenouda responded that the Christian Churches had “done nothing that warrants an apology,” adding he believed the apologies were being “done for appearance’s sake.”

Asked whether Jews were “Christ-killers”, responsible for the crucifixion, Shenouda stated, “The New Testament says that they are,” and asked rhetorically whether the Vatican was “against the teachings of the New Testament?”

Shenouda stated he had banned Copts from visiting Israel for fear they will “be influenced by the Israeli media, and we will not be able to prevent this. Who knows what ideas they will return with?”

The 1988 Lambeth Conference paper, “Jews, Christians and Muslims: The Way of Dialogue” acknowledged the Church’s historical complicity in anti-Semitism. The bishops at Lambeth stated “Anti-Jewish prejudice promulgated by leaders of both Church and State has led to persecution, pogrom and finally, provided the soil in which the evil weed of Nazism was able to take rood and spread its poison.”

Under the pontificate of John Paul II, the Roman Catholic Church acknowledged its role in Jewish persecution. On his March 2000 visit to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, the Pope stated: “We hope that the Jewish people will acknowledge that the Church utterly condemns anti-Semitism and every form of racism as being altogether opposed to the principles of Christianity.”

I should have made that post a new thread so we could all yuck it up about that guy's crazy views.

No, I haven't...do tell!

BEAUTY AND THE PRIEST

An elderly priest has been forced to resign after being caught spending the afternoon at a motel with a sexy married woman.

Monsignor Eugene Clark (79) denies accusations of a sordid affair with leggy church secretary Laura DeFilippo (46), but the priest has been named in divorce papers filed by her husband Philip.

Clark dubbed 'Father Frolic' and 'The Randy Rev' was also caught on video camera entering a motel room one afternoon with Laura and emerging a few hours later with both wearing different clothing.

The storm has become so heated that Monsignor Clark was forced to step down from his position at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York on August 11 as well as pulling the plug on his weekly programmes on a religiousTV network.

Philip DeFilippo said he grew suspicious when his wife began working late into the night at the rectory, balked at joining a family holiday at Disney World, and left instructions to call only in an emergency when Clark took her on business trips to Lisbon, Portugal and St Bart's in the Caribbean.

A lawyer representing Laura denies any sexual relationship but last month a private eye videotaped Clark and Laura at a New York motel. And the DeFilippo's 14 year old daughter told police that she saw her mother kissing and sitting on Clark's lap in his hot tub.

Another time, she said she discovered her mother and Clark together in a darkened room in her house.

Laura DeFilippo

She recalled: "I quietly turned on the lamp and found my mom and her boss together on the couch, her sitting on his lap wearing a satin teddy with her arms around him making out."

On the day Laura was caught on camera she allegedly told her husband they were going to a storage facility 30 miles away in Long Island to sort through some books. Instead, the tell-tale tape made by her husband's private eye reveals Laura picked up Clark at the rectory and had driven to the motel.

The detective said the couple made just one stop, to get fast food, and that when they got to the motel Clark gave Lauraa 'high five' hand slap "as if he had just scored a touchdown".

When the couple emerged from the room six hours later they were wearing different outfits than what they had worn when checking in.

Friends of Luara say her "excuse" for stopping off at the hotel was that she was feeling sleepy and unable to drive. But the detective who tailed them said "they weren't sleepy at all".
