What is your take on emergency AP?

Two days ago I found out my Uncle has terminal Cancer. I am very distraught over it, especially since he has kept it a secret since last May! I do not know if he would qualify as a reason for emergency AP since he is not my immediate family even though I regard him as a part of that circle. I don't know if I should even try for it. Because all the doctors he has gone to in Canada have told him there is nothing else they can do for him, he has decided to go back to China as a last resort. Him and his wife intend to leave on the 27th. My mother has told me not to try because it's too close to when they're leaving and she said at this point I need to keep my focus on my studies. I guess in a small way I let him know that I cared and that I fully intend on him getting better - even if this isn't the case. We need hope right? I have not seen him for 2 years. Should I just let him go, and hope for the best?

Very tough position to be in and I'm sorry to hear about your dilemna. Maybe as a possible idea, you could go out and buy a computer camera for the both of you and hook up and chat "face to face" on the internet before he leaves? Not exactly the same, but you could talk to him, see each others faces and perhaps not have to go thru the frustration & expense of emergency AP. Best wishes to you and your family.
