San Francisco Office seems to be one of the slowest offices and AOS is taking 17 - 35 months! The worse impacted are 2017 filers due to the system glitch where SF was scheduling 2018 ahead of 2017 filers. Lo behold they have not caught up yet and maybe are inefficient as well since last update was Aug, 7 2017 filer who got an interview update.

Will be good for SF filers to gather here and share updates when there is movement on the case so can keep track of what month is SF office working on. Wish everyone still waiting good luck

Dec 2017 San Francisco AOS filer here, we're ready for interview since April 2018.

A 17-35 month wait would be a mess, what is our legal status once EAD, State ID, etc start to expire? Extension is only for 6 months.

Same as now; not a lawful status but "authorized stay" allowed by the US Attorney General. You should submit new I-765 and I-131 forms and a photocopy of your I-485 receipt notice to the Chicago Lockbox: https://www.uscis.gov/i-765-addresses They are free to file.
