My SO and I have not met yet, and I am finally going to be able to go to Africa. In one of the other forums, it was mentioned that number and duration of visits may be an issue for the CO.

If there are any of you who only visited your fiance once, please tell me how long you stayed to visit. I want to make sure that I do things right so as not to give the CO any reason to deny the visa once the application is approved.

11/15/2007 = Package sent overnight Fedex to CSC

11/16/2007 = Package arrived at CSC

11/21/2007 = NOA1 (according to www.uscis.gov online case status)

11/26/2007 = Check cashed (YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!)

11/28/2007 = Touched

11/30/2007 = Rec'd NOA1 hard copy in the mail

12/20/2007 = Touched

12/21/2007 = Touched

03/12/2008 = Touched (due to phone call)

08/25/2008 = Package arrived in Chicago

08/26/2008 = Check cashed

09/02/2008 = NOA1 for EAD and AOS received in the mail.

I'm not sure if the number of visits would be an issue with the CO because as far as I know there is no set number of times or duration of visits that makes you eligible for the K1. Its not like there is a cutoff point and I think that you can use other proof to supplement having met only once (which is the I-129F requirement) to prove your relationship to the CO.

But then again, each CO is different. I don't know what it is like in Nigeria but maybe someone else will be able to answer that part.

I would say spend as much time as you can with your SO while you are there. And if you can afford to go back to Nigeria then it wouldn't hurt.

I think the requirements are to have met in person. It does not say that you have to meet a certain amount ot times. I began to talk to my fiance at the beginning of 2006 and our first meeting was December 3, 2006 and I stayed with hin until December 13, 2006. It was a very short visit but so far our journey has gone by fine so far. Spend as much time with your sweetie as you can. Hope your journey will be smooth.

I begin talking to my husband in Sept 2005 and went to meet him in Nigeria on 3/29/2006 and stayed until April 13th,2006.
