AOS/EAD process in VSC..how long to the interview/approval?

Hi;

We just obtained our marriage license yesterday.. wow i can't believe this, we're getting married within the week or next week. I have a question; we were about to send the application for my EAD but we are getting married soon anyway so we are thinking of holding on a little more so we would just apply for the AOS rather than applying for EAD which would save us some 180usd, if it's rather a more practical way. Has anyone here have gone through AOS process in Vermont Service Center who could share their experiences, want to know long it takes to get approved and to have the green card on hand, anything related to my situation, because I am so eager to start my life outside and go about finding a job rather than staying at home all day long alone, omg i feel like i'm gonna die of boredom soon, (just that, otherwise the rest is absolutely fantastic in my life right now with Mike, he is fabulous i swear ! :devil::goofy::rolleyes::luv::devil:, I am absolutely lovestruck. Sure i can do lots of things around the house but i guess I'm just not much of a homebuddy.

Also, if i choose to still pursue on applying my EAD will the approval have the same amount of time? or much faster so I could start job hunting and probably start working before I get approved of green card? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. God Bless.

We live in NY, and i read over the AOS process and we're supposed to send it to Vermont, I never heard about Chicago LockBox. Also, if I'm going to apply for EAD it is sent to Vermont as well. I know that I don't need to apply for EAD if I have green card cause it already allows you to live and work in the US for a certain period of time. So what I need to know is how long does it take to have an EAD approval and if the process is faster so I would be able to get a job while in the process of AOS.

Where to File Everything:

Applicants are required to mail applications to a national mailbox (Chicago) as stated on the form (not your local USCIS office). The only case in which you may file at a local office is for the following locations: Dallas District Office, El Paso District Office, and the Oklahoma City Sub Office. Please read this notice if your local USCIS office is any of these locations.

Read the guides and the timelines.

Hmm I didn't know that... yeah ok im going to read that over. Thanks, it's always been good to have nice people on this site to be able to help you. It's like we rested our minds for a while about the next step because of the stressful K-1 visa process.

Not a problem. The guides here are extremely helpful. I printed off several copies when compiling the AOS packet and checked off everything as it was copied and put into the file. We would have been lost without them.

Also as much as spending $180 on something you might not need sucks, some of these AOS cases (even the most simplistic ones) are taking a very long time. If you don't mind the idea of potentially not working for the next year or two, don't file. But don't take the lucky cases of those who got their GC before or very shortly after EAD to be the norm. It's generally not the case. EAD is a good insurance that you don't go crazy until you get your GC.
