Timeline

Yesterday, I was at my breaking point and was ready to log off Visajourney and never log back in again. No more comparing other people's timelines, no more calls to NVC, no more harassing my hubbie's state senator.

I seemed to have found some new resolve today though. We're going to keep bugging our state senator to look into our case and the backlog with MTL. If he doesn't help us, we're contacting the other senator. If that doesn't help any, we're spamming MTL and NVC with emails. If that doesn't work, we're contacting the visa center in Washington.

I think if we don't make alot of noise about this ridiculous backlog now, things are only going to get worse, and the waiting list will keep growing.

I think it was Alan/Sharon who said that the government won't hire new employees until the new fiscal year (which is October), so I figure the more ruckus we raise before October, hopefully the more staff they will hire. That's probably me just making one last sad attempt at being optimistic, though.

Anyways, keep at it people. Email your senators and cause a fuss. It might not make a difference, but trying can't hurt:)

Hey Misty, you sound like me last month. I really thought I was going to lose it.

Maybe you can go forward with your K-3 and get your interview fast. Can you have your CR1 interview after you already have your K3? Then you wouldn't have to AOS.

Yes, I've considered that, but the only thing stopping me is that I don't see the point in having a K3 visa when I can visit pretty much all I want anyways. The only thing I really need to be able to stay there is work authorization. We barely get by as it is when I do visit for more than a couple weeks, so going there on a K3 and not being able to work will be extremely difficult:(

Huh. See Thermophile's response above. The system is geared towards rich people.

so, it is confirmed. We are not on the October list. Have seen none of you who is.

Second letter to Senator John Dornyn (TX) goes in mail tomorrow providing update.

Letter to Mary Marshall, Consul General, Gary Sheaffer, Consular Affairs and Susan Bell, Public Affairs at Montreal going out tomorrow.

Seeing hubby this weekend for a few days, then will start on more letters for people I can think of (other Senator, reps even why not,

how about some names and addresses for NVC administrator(s)?

Oh and I was thinking of letter to a Montreal media outlet although I can't imagine they think Montrealers care a McPoulet Sandwich about people trying to get into America.

ANY IDEAS ON MEDIA OUTLETS - Sounds Crazy but why not the NYT or Washington Post? KNOW OF ANY NATIONAL US PAPERS WITH A REGULAR IMMIGRATION COLUMNIST? OR A MAINSTREAM NEWS BLOGGER WHO COVERS IMMIGRATION?

I like your ideas. Have you tried to contact NBC, CBS, and ABC. With the immigration debate raging I'm sure one of the national media outlets are likely to pick up this story. Highly educated people from an English-speaking country having to wait an unconscionable amount of time to be processed. We're Canadians for Ch**** sake, this is outrageous.

BTW, I think you mean former Texas AG and current US Senator John Cornyn. Have you also tried Kaye Bailey Hutchison?

djc-I think that you have to actually talk to one of the people at NVC. I don't think that they update the automated system after your case is complete-you're in the horrible no man's land of no longer the NVC's problem but Montreal doesn't want you yet either. I agree it would be much less painful if you could check if you have an interview by just listening to the nice computer lady.

Pororoca and C&C, when were your guy's cases complete? Just curious as to how far back everyone is waiting right now, and since you haven't posted your timelines :innocent: it's hard to tell:)

As far as I know April 16th is the earliest back that anyone here is waiting, and the last scheduled interview I can remember was a case completion of March 30th, so you'd think they should have moved into April already /sigh

I was rooting for you up until I read something about you taping someone underneath your car in Detroit... now I'm starting to question your sanity :P

But yes, I'm crossing my fingers for you and the other April person (can't remember who it was) to get good news from NVC next month. I'm still curious to know if it is DCF'ers that we are being scheduled around, because I didn't think there really was that many people going DCF, so it kinda makes you wonder how many slots they actually leave for us. I think I'm going to be a real pest next time I call and try to squeeze some more info out of the unlucky NVC operator who happens to pick up.

Misty: this seems to be working both ways. I was stuck in the Canadian immigration nightmare for 20 months with no movement whatsoever! I just withdrew my application this week and am moving back to the U.S. (without Canadian husband sadly). Seems the U.S. doesn't want Canadians and Canada doesn't want Americans... go figure.

My blog

10/01/2005: Married in Toronto

02/15/2006: Began Canadian Immigration

09/19/2007: Withdrew CIC application (they still hadn't processed anything)

10/01/2007: Moved back to U.S.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IR-1 application through Montreal Consulate

10/26/2007: I-130 mailed to CA Service Center

10/29/2007: USPS confirmation of receipt of I-130

02/13/2008: NOA-1 received (107 days)

07/02/2008: I-130 approved

07/22/2008: AOS filed including EAD and AP

07/25/2008: NOA-1s for all 3 received

08/20/2008: Biometrics appointment

08/22/2008: Received RFE for Affadivit of Support and Medical

10/21/2008: Submitted I-865W in lieu of co-sponsor and medical info to NSC

11/14/2008: online case status not updated since filing of AOS in July 2008

01/20/2009: Received another RFE for Affadavit of Support Info

02/02/2009: Responded to RFE with brand new AOS based on 2008 tax return (if that doesn't shut them up, dunno what will)

02/19/2009: EAD card received in mail (no updates on Online Case Status ever made)

02/23/2009: AP received (again, no online updates)

02/26/2009: Received interview appointment letter for 4/6/09

04/06/2009: AOS approved for unconditional GC

04/21/2009: GC received

Yes, I've heard it takes pretty much exactly the same amount of time for Americans to come to Canada these days, I guess that's why I haven't just given up and asked my husband to come here instead.

20 months with no movement at all though?! Wow... tsk tsk Canada
