Yes, this is the email you get just before you get your Green Card. I also got this "approval notice sent" email a few days before my EAD arrived, so I think the approval notice is the card itself.

cesarestrella,

Neither this e-mail nor the welcome notice that you recieved is a "notice of approval".

Both this e-mail and the welcome notice are indications that you will be receiving a notice of approval.

The notice of approval will arrive by post and will be printed on a form I-797 or I-797C - a heavy paper stock with a fancy colored background.

No, it won't. You don't get a notice of approval like that for your Green Card. You simply get the Green Card itself. I'll happily bet money that the OP gets their GC in the next few days, and never recieves any I-797 form.

Thank you.

The 1st two sentences in welcome notice say:

This is to notify you that your application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States.

So... I do think it's an approval notice.

BTW, I got my card in the mail today. I wonder what other kind of notice I will receive. :]

Trust me, you won't get anything else. It doesn't happen often, but Yodrak's post is wrong. That approval notice email is the email you get just before your get your Green Card in the mail.

Oh and Congratulations! :D
