Fiancee's Father's Surname Spelled Differently on Her Birth Certificate

Hi everyone,

I had to order a new paper birth certificate for my fiancee because her old one has been laminated by her and the US Consulates generally do not accept documents that are laminated.

Her father's surname (last name) is spelled slightly differently (MORAIS rather than MORAES) on the new birth certificate we received, while on her Brazilian passport and old laminated Birth Certificate it is spelled MORAES.

Talking with her mother, it looks like his last name was spelled MORAIS on an old ID card.

Is there any way to resolve this discrepancy? I'm pretty sure it'll cause issues at the consulate if the names do not match up exactly.

What can we do???

Thank you!

Parental information shouldn't cause issues as they are not the applicant

YMMV
