Money to Iranian spouse

Hello,

 

My spouse is an Iranian citizen who does not live in Iran. Is it OK for me to pay for her monthly expenses in USD cash when I visit? I have asked her not to spend any of it in Iran, only where she currently lives. We are holding a wedding reception where she lives (not iran), but wants to buy certain persian wedding related artifacts from Iran - she is planning on visiting there prior to our wedding. She also wants to do some medical procedures there. Should I ask her not to use our USD to pay for it and ask her family to buy/pay for Iranian expenses? There'd be no way to verify any of it since its all in Cash, and I suspect Iranian Americans give cash to their families in Iran all the time - but I dont want to violate any rules related to sanctions on Iran.

Not an expert but I'm thinking the sanctions are related with making business with iranian government. Not for regular expenses a tourist will have.
