RFIE on I485 after calling to expedite I765

I have a job offer and decided to take it. I am currently working at the school's computer science department and I used my income with my USC wife for the 125% poverty requirement.

This morning, I called to ask for the expedition of the ead (after waiting for 98 days), and two hours later, I received a notification on the iPhone application that they have sent an RFIE for my I485.

And right after that, I received an email "updating" about my service request. It basically says: "The status of this service request is:

Our records indicate that we are awaiting your response to our request for evidence on your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.  Your case, and all applications associated with it, is currently in suspense or on hold until we receive your response.  A copy of the request for evidence is included for your information.  Please follow any instructions on that notice. You may request expeditious processing again once USCIS has received your response."

Does this sound normal?

I'm freaking out as the company wanted me to start asap and NOT later than the 7th of January. This is a really really good offer, basically the wage of Silicon Valley but in Houston. :(

Pretty normal....they have to validate certain I-485 criteria before they adjudicate dependent applications (like the I-765). The I-864 is a common cause of an RFIE in this case.

It sounds like your expedite request was processed but they cannot adjudicate the I-765 yet due to the RFIE. Respond to the RFIE and they can proceed.

I doubt January would be an issue if they receive the response soon.
