Sent paperwork 21st August, nothing back yet...

Hi everyone!

My 2yr green card expired on 5 October. I sent off all the paperwork on 21st of August, to California and paid for priority mail express so I know it definitely arrived. There's nothing especially unusual in our case as far as I can see, but I've not even had the receipt yet, and I thought it usually took 2-3 weeks for that to come through.

Has anyone seen a delay this year?

Is there anyone we can contact? The only thing I saw on the USCIS website was a chat bot and that didn't help, and without a receipt I can't do the check status thing.

I am hoping to go back to the UK for Christmas and I know I'll need my expired green card and the receipt to travel (right)? As much as anything else if makes me nervous knowing I'm here without the correct paperwork!

Thanks in advance :)

Rebecca

same situation as you,my husband's green card expired yesterday。we still dont have the extension letter。you could call UScis and ask them for the receipt number if you know they already cashed your check or money order。also ask them if they had mailed out the letter yet and when should you receive it by。

otherwise you could go to make an infpass appt to get a stamp on the passport if you think you wont get the letter in time for your trip。

Thanks 123Alexch.

I'll give them a call today and see how far I get. I'd not heard of Infopass before so thanks for that!

Can I ask when you and your husband sent your paperwork in?

Hi i am sorta in the same situation, but my green card expires in 10 days. I filed around the same time as you. I have not received my receipt number or any correspondence yet.

However, i did call USCIS and they told me that it had been accepted and gave me receipt number. They said that the NOA1 had been shipped OCT 2, but still think it is weird that it has not arrived yet.

I tried my receipt number and of course the tracking does not work, that is pretty common though. I was a little relieved after the call to USCIS and you should do the same!

Rebecca,

Do you know if your check has been cashed?  Usually this is the first step that USCIS will take and is a good idea of whether or not your application is good to go.  If it has not been cashed there is a good chance your application is going to be rejected for one reason or another especially since you filed over a month ago. My wife's application was rejected due to sending in the incorrect filing fee. We sent it on August 24th, California Service Center received it on Aug. 27 and we got it back on October 6th.  In case it helps.

Probably. Yet today is the 22nd and I still haven't received it. I guess I'll have to book an appointment.

Call them up again and speak to Tier 2 officer saying you still haven't received the physical receipt notice. Give him the number you got and see if they can help you. Infopass can be a bit tricky to schedule.

Yes I called again and the notice has not even been printed yet lol. She apologized for the backlog but oh well. At least they have it. I will now schedule an appointment for a stamp in my passport, that is what she said.

Thanks for your answers!
