Preparing i130 Package

Hello everyone,

I and my wife are preparing to submit the i130 package. We got married in the state of Michigan, we obtained our marriage certificate from the country court.

At first, my wife's middle name was misspelt by one letter in her ID, therefore, our marriage certificate has the wrong middle name spelling. Since then, we got the name fixed on the ID and now it matches the name on passport SSN and driver's license. Should I go back to the county court and try to get it fixed or don't bother?

We do not want to do an adjustment of status because I enter the state frequently, ( I am Canadian) and do not to get stuck here for 6+ months.

I'd like to hear from the people have recently submitted their application, did you include pictures to prove the relationship is legit? Should there be a cover letter written by the wife explaining our intent?

Do we need passport pics of us?

We have a joined bank account in America, can we use the cheques to pay for the application (The cheques show my name and her name on it). The reason I am asking is because I do not want them to think that I am in the US illegally or anything. Would there be an issue with that respect?

Thanks in advance.

The joint bank account is not a problem.  It's good evidence of commingled finances.  Your marriage certificate should reflect the correct names.

Is there a step by step thread I can read?

Click on the word "GUIDES" at the top of any page here.  Study the I-130 instructions.  Download them right next to where you download the form.  Doing so will be critical to your ultimate success.
