I haven’t been able to obtain my vaccination history from the NHS and my medical is booked for the 12th October. So, I’ll have to have certain jabs done but I’m realizing this will probably need to be followed with a booster 4 weeks later. In order to start that 4 weeks rolling, can I get the jabs done at my GP now and if so, what will I need to ensure this process is completed correctly. What jabs and what paperwork for the medical.

Thanks.

My husband went to his normal doctor in The Netherlands and got everything he could since it was cheaper than using the immigration assigned doctor.   He had been vaccinated before but they basically did a full series on him for the whole list.  He then brought the records with him from that and hoped for the best.  The Netherlands doesn't have one of the vaccines required by default  so that one had to wait for the US approved doctor for that.     The assigned doctor for the immigration medical then gave him that last remaining vaccine and accepted the records for the rest.

I went to my GP and asked for them. Simply printed it out and handed it to me. If you're able to get your GP before the 12th, I would do so.

Actually if you go to the exam and the time interval has not passed to get the booster, you are given a waiver for the booster. Your sheet will be marked with the waiver "insufficient time interval". You never get the booster for immigration.

The same waiver concept applies to pregnant women who cannot get the Rubella component in MMR. The MMR shot is waived for "not medically appropriate". The woman does not have to hold off immigration just to wait and get the shot. If you are as complete as medically possible when you are signed off (with waivers) on the day of the exam, you are done with shots. But you have to be as complete as medically possible. You can't just skip getting an appropriate shot because you want to.

Thanks to all for replies. So, I could go and have them done at my GP but I could just wait for the medical and if a booster is needed but my departure date arrives sooner, then it doesn’t matter and I don’t have to worry about getting a booster in the US?

Yes.  Although you might as well get the booster in the US just from a health protection perspective.  They are covered under health insurance (once you have insurance) so no harm in it, only benefit.

You can get them at your GP, possibly free. Or Boots, Tesco, or a travel clinic. Any of those will give you a paper stating the shots and dates to prove you had them.

Your departure has nothing to do with it. The only one with a booster that comes into play is MMR. The significan date is the day of your medical. Say you got your first MMR at the GP. IF 4 weeks passed before your medical, the booster is due. You only have 13 days until your medical, so no matter where you got the shot, they can not give you another on October 12.. So they sign younoff with a waiver for insufficient time interval (since your first MMR.)

Getting signed off at your medical is what counts for your adjustment of status. Any shot after October 12 (visa medical) will have to be signed off by a Civil Surgeon in the US. They can be expensive and a hassle.

Shots you need and price at the medical

MMR- Mumps/Measles/Rubella £50

Tdap- Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis £60

Influenza £40

Varicella BUT if you had chickenpox, it is waived.

You got an email after you booked your medical telling you everything to bring. It's also on the clinic website http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us-bring.htm
