, it’s more of a concern IF they automatically do then  I’m not sure if I have to file with Germany that they can keep their german citizenship.

As i mentioned my citizenships status, i intended to give you an example of a situation where not only one, but you could have had 3 , 4 or even more citizenship without worrying to lose either of them when acquiring a US citizenship. Few countries ( to the best of my knowledge, such as China and India)  do not accept dual citizenship so when their citizens get another countries citizenship, they lose their native countries citizenship and there are few other countries such as Iran, where dual citizenship is not even recognized , so the citizens's new citizenship is never accepted and the person can only travel into the country with his native passport and not the new one!  When i think about it, i remember I do have German friends with dual citizenship! i mean i never heard them saying anything about losing German citizenship. I will try contacting her, later today and will update you if i get any reply ( not sure what time it is in Germany now)

Thank you that’s very sweet of you (it’s 3pm here)

i know that Germany accepts dual citizenship but I have to file for keeping it (Beibehaltungsantrag, awesome german word for that form)

Now I know me as an adult have to do that form and have the permission in hand before I get sworn in. But gaining the US citizenship then is my own will and decision so I understand why I would file for keeping my german one as well. For the kids (if it happens) they would gain the US Citizenship without asking for it per say.. so I’m wondering if I have to file that form for the kids under 18 too to stay german or if

theyre automatically dual citizen (form also costs a lot of money so I wanna make sure if I really need it)
