I think there should be mandatory mental evaluations before a new mom leaves the hospital. that includes drug screenings.

How screwed up is it that someone can sit there and cut up their child like that.. Irrespective of her drug usage; She chose to use those drugs period..

I do believe people should have to sit a mandatory parenting class. Scumbags like this one should surgically have their right to bear children taken away from them..

I agree with this. I remember after I gave birth to my second child, there was a girl who was on drugs and gave birth the day before me. Her baby was in ICU cos it had to be weaned off the drugs. The mother openly told people why it was there and she did seem to have mental issues, almost proud that her child was there! I actually spoke with a midwife there and knowing it was none of my business, I said to her "how is she going to cope with the baby?"

The midwife reassured me that social servies were involved and the baby was probably going to go to a relative. That did make me feel better cos I would of probably worried forever over that baby!

I hope the mother who mutilated her baby suffers forever!! I feel so sorry for the poor baby
