I took a break from thinking about most Visa stuff from the time I entered the US until, well, a couple of weeks ago when I sent off the AOS papers.

So far it's been pretty good here. There's definately some adjustments that have had to be made, but we're coming along well. I can't wait til EAD is approved (really) because we're on a really limited income at the moment.

The only real setback I've become annoyed about is getting my driver's licence. I don't have to go for a retest, but when I went to the DMV and took in all my documents, I was told that since they now have a direct hookup to CIS, and that my documents "needed to be cleared by them before I can get my licence."

...

So we go downtown and hand them photocopies of all the same stuff that I just showed the DMV, and what do they do? They tell me that they have to send it all away to USCIS for Third-level-processing and that I should hear a decision from them in anywhere from 4 to 9 weeks. It's called the SAVE system... something Alien Verification or whatever. I don't know but it's gotten me really pissed off. Even the easiest things have to be made complicated

I'll stop talking about that though because it really does make in mad heh.

Anyway all in all it's going well, I have my cases back up in my online portfolio and am beginning the routine of checking 3-400 times a day to see if any of them have been touched

I hope everyone's doing well and I'll probably be around a lot more again.

cheers,

-Les

Hey, good to see ya! I understand your frustrations .... my hubby cannot get his license either. We (very stupidly, I will admit) let his license lapse during the process. What happened was that it was due to be renewed shortly before he entered the country on K-1. On reading the DMV website in my state, it said that visa holders can get a license, they just have to go to the state office. So, we knew that he would have to get a NH license anyway (and we were admittedly braindead also and not thinking clearly), we just let his Canada one lapse. BIG PROBLEM!!!!! I have spoken to several reps at the DMV and some say that he needs a green card to get the license, one other said that he just needed EAD, did not need green card. Either way, we are in limbo waiting because we do not yet have either :(

Hope you get your license soon!!!
