Adoption while waiting on I-751 Feb 2017

We filed I-751 in Feb 2017 in California and have been waiting ..  March it was transferred to Nebraska

In the meantime I completed the adoption of the kids in Feb 2018

Funny thing is we went to a GOES apt to get updated Visas since the 1 year extension was about to expire.

And they took my wife and kids green cards and gave us paper ones?  Why I dont know. They should have

just stamped the NOTICE with an extension date.  We are frequent crosses between Tijuana and San Diego

and we have SENTRI.

So, .. I get the kids new  Birth Certificates and go to Social Security OFfice to get name changed.

And they say no.. because the took our green cards and the new one is dated AFTER the adoption

had I gone the next day.. after adoption when we still had our green cards that were issued prior to the adoption.

Social Security would change the kids names.  They said nope. Now you need new  Green Cards with the name change.

So.. I come home and get online to find out the name change is a cost of some ridiculous amount of money like $475 each

I could recind the I-751 for the kids and apply for citizenship easier..   But dont have the $1024 each for that either :-(

So, what I did was put together a nice cover letter and put copies of the court order and birth certificates and a request to change the name

prior to issuing the new Green Cards.. that we are so impatiently waiting. They accepted the documents and have not sent them back.. yet

I-751 filed  2-15-2017

NOA and Biometrics 3-8-2017

File transferred to Nebraska Service Center in March 2017

What sucks is now we cannot renew our SENTRI cards and need to by July 28th   and going back to the regular line.. is not fun.

20 min vs 2-3 hours    Just sucks as we've done everything by the book and it is just taking forever and a year

Anybody have any luck on NSC???  We have to be getting close. They dont post the NSC turn times.  Or atleast I cannot figure out how to view.

I had heard they are working on March 2017

anyone else have a similar experience
