Hello all,

My fiancée, the beneficiary, was just approved the visa yesterday after the interview at the Consulate (hooray!!).
Prior to scheduling the interview about a month ago, we had requested to have the visa documents mailed to her home address once it is ready in approximately 10 business days.
However, I have just read on your website that we could've had an authorized third party (someone else) pick up the documents at the Applicant Service Center.

Any knows if it is possible to switch the retrieval method from delivery service to the third party pick-up instead while they are processing the visa documents?

Thanks!!

I am 98% sure that once she goes to the interview there is no way to change that anymore. In fact she can check that through the CASV website which is where she selected the pick up option. Like I said, I dont believe she can do that anymore.

I`m not sure where she is from in Brazil but since I`m from there I know how post service or mailing service whatever you want to call works....thats bad and that is why I choose to pick it up in one of their offices...it worked pretty well.

Good luck

I agree with you.  Once you have your interview I'm pretty sure you can not change it.  I do know, a friend of ours put the incorrect address and didn't know it until a couple of weeks past when he didn't receive his packet.  His lawyer found out that the embassy attempted delivery but it was the wrong address. So he had to go back to the embassy and correct the address.  This was all in Brazil.

Somos de Curitiba, so it's not a simple task to just go to Rio 2 weeks after the interview to pick the paperwork...

I have sent an email last week and told the fiancee to call and check. Might as well.

@ChristineA one of the reasons that we weren't that happy about going with mailing the passport. Would you happen to know if they mail it via Correios, or would it be a more premium company (Fedex/other)? A friend of mine told me that she wouldn't imagine the US and consulate to risk getting the passport lost and potentially be sued. Just a thought.

Well, we're hoping we can change it, as we have family members that will be in the city that we could authorize the pick up.

If I get any answer from CASV, I'll let you know FYI.

Thank you for the help anyways!
