affidavit of support -weird situation

Hi, so I am trying to gather as much information as I possibly can. I plan to marry my fiance in a few months and then file cr1 for him. He is a UK citizen. I will need a cosponsor as I have not made enough in the past 3 years. I understand that I will have to still fill the affidavit as the primary sponsor even though I don't meet the requirements. Here is where it get's weird. I have only recently gotten a divorce, we've been separated for awhile but only filed for divorce in the beginning of this year, basically so I could remarry. So taxes I filed for the past 5 years were married jointly with my ex-husband. I am guessing I do need to include those tax returns even though I wasn't making any money and all the information is my ex-husbands?

Question number two, my ex husbands offered to cosponsor for my new husband to be, which again, is going to look really weird and although would be the easiest way as I already have all his financial information etc but am worried it will throw a lot of red flags.

To be honest, I am afraid everything will be one huge red flag.

Current income is what counts. 2 issues.

Find a different joint sponsor.  Using your X as a sponsor is the biggest red flag I've every heard of being considered in the thousands of cases I've read about.  Don't do it.

Of course you must include information from those three tax returns and include a copy of the most recent.  Those have nothing at all with your "current income" which will determine whether you qualify or need a joint sponsor.
