i-485 employment history question

Hi sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched the forums and I have not found the answer. We are in the process of filling out the i-485 form.  I have a question regarding the employment history. Before coming here I was self employed for about 8 months working freelance and before that I was placed for jobs by an agency. Should I put in self employed in the company section and for the second employment should I  put in the agency name or the company the agency placed me with.  Also is it common to get a RFE on employment history?

Thanks in advance

If it were me, I'd put the actual company you worked for and NOT the agency because they themselves didn't hire or pay you. And I'd also just put "SELF EMPLOYED". And no I've never heard of people getting RFE's on employment history. They don't have time to actually investigate that. It's more to see that you've made legal income over the years, where you've lived etc.

You are employed by the agency.  The i-9 you complete is from the agency. Putting the actual company you work at is inaccurate.

The work was outside the USA.

Oh am not sure how it works overseas but I think the premise is the same.  Unless you work directly for an entity - you are a contractor and not an employee.
