Hello!

I am currently in the process of getting an 1-129f approved for my boyfriend who lives in Australia. I am a US citizen, and we're trying to get him over here so we can get married so he can finally come live with me. I submitted all the required papers back in December and I got a receipt around the 15th, but I have not gotten anything since then. Four months seems like a long time without so much as getting the NOA2. My boyfriend recently had to move due to certain circumstances, and I was trying to figure out how to change his address on the forms so he doesn't miss any important mail, but I haven't found any concrete answers on how I might do this. I've looked around the web, I even called the USCIS offices a couple times, and spoke to someone on the phone once who wasn't very helpful. I tried asking on another website but it's already been two days and I still haven't gotten any replies.

This seems like it should be such a simple thing to do. I can change my own address through the USCIS website, but I don't need to change MY address, I need to change his. Would anybody have any idea how I could go about doing this? Also, would anyone know if four months with nothing more than the NOA1 (which I got after a couple weeks) is strange? The USCIS website has told me the same thing since mid-December and asking on the phone is totally useless. I even tried submitting an inquiry on the website but it wouldn't let me.

Anyways, thanks.

There are typically two communications between petition filing and approval.  NOA1 and 6 - 8 months later NOA2, so four months of silence is only part of the journey.  A few unfortunate souls will get a third one requesting more evidence

You really cannot change the beneficiary address until everything is at the Embassy and he submits the DS160.  So stop fretting about it

His address is not required at this stage - the petition is for you, not him. That's why there's no way to change his address with USCIS. USCIS is only concerned with your side of things.

Six months seems to be standard these days for approval of the I-129F.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath
