Direct Consular Filing for London, UK

We are currently engaged and working our way through the early days of the K1 process at the moment. It was only after we filed the K1 application that we realised a DCF would be a lot quicker. I am a US Citizen on a Tier 4 Student Visa (been here for 8 months) and we are thinking about getting married in a civil ceremony to file for an I-130 application through London. For those of you that have been through the process:

1, Did getting married in the UK affect your Student Visa or cause any problems? I have 5 months of my course left.

2, Is my fiance allowed to visit my family in the states during this process? Would it complicate things? He would return and re-enter with the visa in hand once approved.

Thank you all in advance!

I cannot help with your first question since I wasn't a student. Maybe someone in the HR department of your Uni can help with that? I can't imagine it would affect your student visa but worth checking.

2) Your fiance can travel but it will be the discretion of the CO to let him in. There are threads on this forum with many folks who have successfully traveled, it's just not guaranteed that he'll be allowed entry. We didn't bother having my husband travel since we knew the process would be relatively short but this thread should help you out:
