Hi Everyone,

I've found a few old threads regarding self sponsoring at London, but wanted to know if anyone more recently has had any success? How much will they be looking at for you to have in your account? What documentation other than a recent savings/bank statement would be required?

Thank in advance!

Emily

I literally am going through that post right now and trying to get as much documentation as possible, if it's just the 90 days coverage they're looking for I should be good!

Thank you for your posts on here, they have saved me a whole heap of hassle!

@Boiler Did you have a cover letter explaining how you'd transfer etc? I can get a bank statement and I have a letter from a solicitor but was thinking about writing a cover letter something along the lines of:

Dear US Embassy,

Please accept this letter and documentation as proof of my ability to financially Self-Sponsor the K1 visa application in my name as petitioned by my Fiancé, [NAME].

I have enclosed a recent bank statement of my savings account and a letter from my solicitor to show that the money was obtained through [SALE OF HOUSE/INHERITANCE ETC].

Upon arrival in the United States, a bank account will be opened and the money will be transferred into US Dollars via Transferwise.

The current exchange rate is [RATE] so my [AMOUNT GBP] should roughly be exchanged to [AMOUNT USD].

I hope that the documentation I have provided is enough to satisfy the requirements that would be asked for using the I-134 form. I do have this information available should you find me unable to self-sponsor.

Sincerely,
NAME

I took a mega file of all my finances and a spreadsheet summarising them,  CO glanced at the spreadsheet for a second and moved on.

Seems they are looking for you to have enough to survive 90 days.
