Good information to know. If your hotel is near the embassy or handy to return to, you can ask them to hold your luggage. We stayed overnight, checked out after breakfast for an early morning (old) Embassy appointment, and the hotel stored our luggage for free. We spent the afternoon sightseeing, dinner, drinks and didn't return to pick up bags until about 6pm then caught the coach home. Many hotels will offer that service to guests. We've done the same in NYC when we had to be checked out, but had a late flight home.
