Good afternoon everyone!

I was approved for AOS and will file for I-751 next year. My green card has my middle name initial instead of full middle name, on the back it does have my full middle name. My NOA and envelope that GC was delivered, has my full name including middle name.

I went to the social office to request a new card but they told me they could only go by how my GC is (middle name initial only, not full middle name) also the same thing happened at the DMV.

Im really worried about having problems with security by the time I have to file for I-751, because my name on my biometrics appointment or interview letter won't match my ID

I will try to talk to someone at the social office to see if they can add my full middle name and show my NOA with my complete name. But what if they don't want to change it 😭

Anyone has been into the same situation?

It shouldn't matter. Is your name very long? It might be that there aren't enough characters to fit your entire name on one line.... that happens to me a lot since I have a longish middle name and a double-barreled last name. So some pieces of ID show all the names and some do not. I haven't had any troubles with people understanding that sometimes they'll see the full name and other times just the initial.

I believe this is normal practice. It would be a good idea to carry the NoA letter that comes with the green card when traveling, since that includes your full name, but I'm fairly sure the work permit and green card only include the initial of the middle name instead of the full middle name.

@nightingalejules my middle name is only 4 letters long. What I’m worry about is not having a form of ID with my full middle name by the time I have to apply for ROC.

i don’t know if it’s an issue with security because the times that I’ve been to USCIS offices, they always ask for appointment letter and ID.

Letter will have full complete name and on my ID my middle name will me incomplete. Only with initial

Even USCIS agents can tell that an initial stands for your complete middle name. It's not like they're going to think "oh wait - it says Jane Mary Doe here and Jane M Doe there - it must be a different person."  They'll know it's you. If it really stresses you out that much, you can make sure they have your complete name on your new 10 yr green card... but honestly, name/initial (for middle name) are more or less interchangeable in terms of proving your identity.

Hi there, I do have my middle initial to on the GC instead of my full middle name. I never had any issue at all. My Social Security card has my middle initial too. My state DMV gave me the I.D with my full middle name. My rest of the documents do have my full middle name except few.  Honestly, I want my full middle name on the GC but I am least bothered now. My ultimate goal is N-400. Before the Oath ceremony, they ask you if you want your full name on the Naturalization Certificate.  I want my full middle name instead of the middle initial. I will wait for the naturalization. I don't know if they print the full name on the 10 year GC after removal of conditions. I had my biometrics last year without any problem. They never asked about my GC they just looked at the biometrics letter.  The middle initial has nothing to do with your I-751. Your full information is in the USCIS system.
