Hello.

Is necessary to renewal a passport of my Filipina fiance after wedding with changing her status from single to married? She will keep her maiden name because it's much easier to change it in my country. So I think it's not necessary in that case. I'm from European union.

Im worried she will be refused at the airport emigration office so some real experience is welcomed.

She can take your last name AND still use her passport with her maiden name for travel. She will need to book her flights in her passport name and carry her marriage certificate for proof of her new name where asked. Many do it this way with NO problems. At a later date she can change the passport to her married name.

2nd what Greenbaum stated.  :thumbs:

With that said it is very easy to change her passport to her married name in the Philippines;

  • Attend CFO (GCP seminar) to get the certificate (she will have to attend CFO no matter what, you can not avoid this as she will NOT be allowed to exit the country without a CFO sticker in her passport)
  • Schedule an appointment with DFA to renew the passport in her married name (DFA will want a copy of the CFO certificate, plus see the original).  Passport process after the appointment is rather quick, 2-3 weeks, plus you can pay for expedite and get it even quicker.

It is quick for a passport if you can get an appointment.  DFA is currently booked past March 31 2018 in most locations

YMMV

WoW!!  DFA is backed even more then it was back in September when my wife renewed her passport (it was 6 weeks out then).   I found nothing open through March... that sucks.  :(

I watch it everyday waiting for new slots to open

YMMV

Thank you all. Sure it's easy to get new passport but it's still about two or more weeks which we can be sooner together in my country. So we will not renew it for now if it's possible as you said.

My fiance is a single mom so she doesn't need an appointment. Otherwise it's around 3 months nearest free slots so it's crazy.

Single mom's going to the front of the line, I never thought about getting my gal pregnant.  She might have the kid before we get an appointment slot
