Hello All,

I got a notice on the 11th of Dec, 2017. It states that after first review,  I-693 was not filed with my application and request I bring it to the interview when it is time. I did not file that because I was going to take it to the interview anyways. What I am concern about is when do someone get a REF notification ( I do not pray to have one) and what is the difference between RIEF and REF if there are any differences. Does everyone get a RIEF or REF for their application?

Cincinnati Filer:
Application sent: 11/01/2017
Application Received: 11/03/2017
Notification of Acceptance via email: 11/14/2017
Four letters of the receipt in mail: 11/18/2017
Letter for Biometric Appointment in mail: 11/26/2017. (I believed it came earlier because I was out of town).
Biometric Appointment: 12/7/2017 walk in completed!

STILL WAITING!

We received a RFIE when first filing for AOS (forgot to include a copy of joint sponsor's birth certificate). Then we actually received a RFE at the interview for an updated I-693. We were unaware that the I-693 was only valid for one year from the exam date. We sent in an updated medical exam in September and are just waiting for the AOS to be adjudicated now. *fingers crossed*

Gotcha. I already got a notice that I should bring I-693 to interview. I have no RFIE or REF. I am still waiting on EAD its being 46 days of filing now.

EAD is currently taking 90-120 days so you have a wait ahead of you.

RFIE is sent out immediately upon them receiving your packet. Its called a request for initial evidence. This includes (as stated above) items that are missing from your packet. Basically when they get your packet they check it for general completedness. If something is missing like a birth certificate or marriage certificate an RFIE will be sent. An RFE is simply a request for evidence. This request will occur when an Officer actually reviews the content of your packet. This wont occur until the Officer actually touches your packet and is reviewing it to approve/deny/request evidence in order to approve/deny.

Great! Thanks for your explanation that makes more sense. Haha well I am not much in a hurry so I will just wait and keep fingers crossed.
