When you call the Department of State at (202) 663-1225 you have to sit there and listen to call this non-sense that 90% doesn't pertain to you. Does anyone know the path to speak with an operator directly? Please help, I can't listen to them talk everytime i call there

LebaneseBride,

The NVC is the Department of State Visa Center in Portsmouth NH and the 'DoS' number is Department of State in Washington.

After the case has been sent by the NVC to the Embassy of the alien's country, the DoS in washington has up to date information on whether or not an interview date has been assigned. Even before the Embassy has notified you.

This is why its useful to use this number after the case has been sent from the NVC.
