Hello,

Just doing a quick survey... anyone knows what are the current waiting times to received the Visa following the interview?

The lady told me 3 weeks, the paper says 2 weeks, meanwhile most people here seem to get it within 3-5 days max!

Anyone that recently got their K1-visa from the Montreal consulate and can comment?

Thank you in advance!

How long did it take you guys to get a response from the National Visa Centre and or the Montreal Embassy after you received your NOA2? We received ours Nov 8, and nothing yet from the NVC. It's getting so hard!!!! The wait times seem to be so long now! UGHHHH!!!!!

In the summer it took me almost 5 weeks to get a number from NVC (most people were getting through in 2 weeks at the time... It seems now it is taking long for everyone).  It then took me a week "in transit" until it showed ready on the tracker.  However it then took me another 2 and a half weeks until they accepted my packet 3 and gave me packet 4 (which you need to schedule the interview).  So in the summer I had my NOA2 dated May 19 and interview in Montreal on August 9. Some people get through faster, it just depends how fast they are moving at the time.

Thank you so much! If it took you 3 months, it will take me just as long if not longer. Another question for you. After you get the letter from the NVC, do we need to do anything, or does the embassy contact us directly? I don't understand what happens after the NVC sends the docs to the Embassy.

You don't have to wait for a letter from NVC, you can call.  I'm not sure why it's taking the NVC so long right now.  In the summer, most Canadians were being tested in a new online system and that seemed to cause the delays when others were getting numbers in 10-14 days.

My now- husband received an email a few days after we got our number by phone and he did receive a letter I believe, but I'm not sure when.  In our email, it gave us our number and said we could submit the DS-160.  Are you the beneficiary?? You will need a copy of the DS160 page with the barcode, a copy of your biographic page of the passport and the completed packet 3 checklist (can find online).  Eventually the embassy will send You instructions in the mail, but you can speed up the process by submitting packet 3 by email (address and instruction on on the packet 3 that you can find online) after the CEAC tracker website says "ready" (using the number you will get from the NVC to track it).

A week after I submitted packet 3 I got an email telling me not to submit anything until instructed (meaning they weren't ready for me to send my stuff yet). However I just checked the tracker daily and whenever I noticed the date get updated, I resent packet 3.  They just ignore your email unless they are actually ready for it.  After 2 1/2 weeks and 5 times sending it, I got packet 4 the next day and you can book your medical and interview after that!

I have seen the embassy stage go faster for others, but I was going through there around Canada Day/ Independance Day and I assume summer vacations so I think it slowed me down a bit.  Feel free to contact me if you have other questions :)

I had my interview on Wed Nov 15 and it was ready to be picked up Fri Nov 17 around noon time! Located in Toronto if it matters.

Hello Bracy,

do you remember if the consulate gave you an actual "verbal timeline" when to expect the visa?

just curious why suddenly it would be so much longer :(

how long did it take to get an actual tracking number?

thanks!
