Odd request from Manila embassy

"During our review of your mail-in packet, we found that you are still missing the following documents:

Evidence of parents’ relationship prior to the date of conception.

What are they looking for? We're both U.S. citizens. I don't understand what they are looking for here. My wife wanted to give birth in the Philippines so she would have help etc. I thought this sort of evidence was only asked for in the case of a non-citizen parent? What's the deal with this? Anyone? Thanks.

They wrote me back, and are asking for pictures. Have tons of them, and will bring them, but it still seems as if these instructions are being given by someone who is failing to notice that we sent in copies of both of our US passports. It's as if they're looking at the instructions where there is a foreign spouse in the mix.

I know it seems odd but it is a requirement. Most people filing have just one USC parent. I know with you both being USC it shouldn't matter but we are talking about the government after all

 

Now doesn't it seem real stupid that a mother and father that are not even US citizens can sneak across our border or be hee on a visa and have a baby and the baby is automatically a USC no questions asked?

 

Oh well I hope you get it all straightened out quickly. Best of luck. My wife will be having a baby there in June so I will be doing the same thing next year.

Very odd

 

You can file for DACA and get granted without any interviews.

 

I would ask them at the USEM why are you having to jump thru hoops when the USA has milliions of illegal aliens in the country.  You are both US Citizens they are barking up the wrong tree here.

Yep, it's bonkers. I guess I'll bring our wedding pictures and pictures of us with our 8 year old son, along with his U.S. passport, my wife's naturalization certificate, and copies of the NOA for her greencard from way back when. Whole think makes zero sense - without having a relationship with her prior to our new baby's birth, how do they suppose I managed to petition her and bring her to the U.S. as my spouse back in 2011?

So everything got approved without any issues. 

 

Does anyone know how the passport can be tracked? We filled out the Air21 form, but no tracking number provided. I looked online but the embassy page has a broken link to tracking info, and still talks about 2go as the courier.
