Hello to all of you

i read this forum during my green card process and it really helped me thanks to you.

i finally option 10 years of green card through marriege to my husband who is U.S citizen. Since I'm here in the U.S five years now I think I can apply citizenship but there's a big question in my head, me and my husband live separate states for 2 and half years but we still married.  so if you could help me figure out this kinda thing I'm the person who moved out to another state for school. My question is which state can I apply citizenship? Is it the state I live or Minnesota where my Husband lives which is the same state that issued my residence.?

thank you very much

hi

have you been a green card holder for 5 years? you will have to file under the 5 year rule

you will apply under the 5 year rule on your own,  so you don't have to prove bonafide relationship

it's very common that the couple are separated in the U.S. for many reasons, including study and works.

as long as you are still counted as the resident of the state where you received your state ID and claimed TAX residency(i assume it's where your husband is living and you dont change your residency and driver license when you moved to another state for study purpose ), you will choose there to file.

if you are file through paper mail, you mail to the processing center as directed and they will send your case to the field office where your residency belongs to. If you file online, your case will be automaticaly assigned to the field office according to your residency address provided in the form.
