California Bans ICE Agents from State Labor Offices to Protect illegal Workers

California Labor Commissioner Julie Su has ordered state employees to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from entering the department’s offices without a warrant.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Su issued the directive last month, ostensibly to protect illegal aliens reporting employee abuse at the hands of employers.

One Democrat Assemblyman from San Francisco is pushing it one step, further the Beereports, proposing a law to limit ICE accesses to workplaces:

“The atmosphere of fear created by Trump and ICE’s expanded dragnet hurt all California workers,” said Assemblyman David Chiu, D-San Francisco, who sponsored the bill that would restrict immigration enforcement at workplaces. “We have to do everything we can to fight back, and it’s great to see our labor commissioner taking a stand against the small minority of unscrupulous employers who are illegally retaliating against their employees.”

ICE has denied claims that its agents have attended Labor Commission hearings, however. Spokeswoman Virginia Kice told the UK Independent that it had found no evidence to corroborate the rumors and reports on which Su’s directive is based.

The Labor Commission is not alone in raising the alarm about increased enforcement efforts under President Donald Trump. California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakso —has pushed school districts to declare themselves “sanctuaries,” and California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye has demanded the federal government stop “stalking” illegal aliens in and around California’s courts.

I think above all, it's hilarious how much the state tries to tell the federal government how to enforce its own immigrant policies.

 

- Don't want to hand over illegals committing crimes to ICE

- Cry about ICE doing their jobs and finding illegals

- Try and ban them from state offices

 

Attempt after attempt to place themselves in matters above their pay grade.

 

I'd just sit some ICE agents outside the department and yank 'em as they leave. State has no power over Federal jurisdictional matters, which encompasses the state of California as well, to the dismay of snowflakes.

Didn't the last administration take a state to court when they started meddling in the immigration arena?

States don't wanna play by the federal rules yet want to be beneficiaries of federal money.

 

Time to start using all avenues.

Last I checked it is a federal crime to aid or harbor illegal aliens. Any politician who aids illegal aliens in any way (sanctuary cities, ect.) should be arrested.

Agreed. Problem is, the left don't believe in laws or following them. Time to just start rounding these people up and start incarcerating those abetting illegals, especially politicians, but also everyone else. The time for asking people nicely to follow the law is over.
