Can I apply for Medicaid while the case still in process.

I'm USC. I filed for CR1 DCF in Thailand while I'm there for over 3 yrs and just move back to US by the end of May 2017.

 

I recently just found out that I'm pregnant so I applied for Medicaid. Is it's gonna affect our case since it's still in process?

 

Can somebody pls tell me what's to do? Thanks so much guys!!

The USC can use medicaid, etc. The one that cannot is the foreigner.

It's not so easy to be alone while pregnant so my friend suggests me to apply for WIC and other benefits from the government. I was not sure so I didn't apply for anything but Medicaid since I need to see the Obgyn. 

 

I also asked my lawyer and he never give me a clear answer Lol

Yeah, as a USC you can use any benefits that you would ordinarily qualify for. You will likely need a joint sponsor for the I-864, though.

 

@Coco8 True, but typically emergency medicaid is available for LPRs since it is not a means tested benefit (versus regular Medicaid, which is). That usually covers a good portion of pregnancy and child birthing costs.

Thank u so much geowrian  Yes, we have a joint sponsor since I was in Thailand and we thought we would come to US together. However the lawyer suggested me to come over here first as a prove of domicile.

 

We've been told that it shouldn't take that long after I arrived to US. However it've been over 2 mths since I got here and just recently found out that I pregnant.

Awesome. Then you should be good to go! And returning to the US beforehand for domicile is a good/safe thing.

 

Nothing is ever quick, but at least you aren't going through the 12-14 month wait most spouses have to go through.

Hopefully we're at the very end of the process since the case is filed for over 2 yrs already Lol It would be better for me and the baby to have some support from my husband asap
