Trump tells police not to worry about injuring suspects during arrests

During a speech on Long Island on Friday, President Trump took a break from discussing gang violence and illegal immigration to give the law enforcement officers gathered for his remarks some advice on how to treat suspects.

“When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over?” Trump said, miming the physical motion of an officer shielding a suspect’s head to keep it from bumping against the squad car.

“Like, don’t hit their head, and they just killed somebody — don’t hit their head,” Trump continued. “I said, you can take the hand away, okay?”

hmm, just the other day the Boy Scouts of America apologized for his behaviour at the jamboree.

 

hope the police don't treat him with kid gloves when he's arrested!

It's sad that whenever the President of the US gives a speech, people have to add a disclaimer afterwards...

I am sure that there are a few who have never been more proud of the so-called president and will be along shortly to explain how the criticism of his ridiculous statement is merely the left getting touchy feely about bad guys. Or perhaps lefty butt hurt. Time will tell.

Remember during his campaign he also offered to pay for the legal services of anyone arrested for assaulting his protestors...

My husband and I argue about him frequently...especially when something controversial happens surrounding him (at least every three days, I know).

I swear, it's like the man can do no wrong in his eyes.  Frightening, really.

And there's been a time I sympathized with Trump after that whole Kathy Griffin incident...I think a lot of people who never supported him did...but that sympathy lasted about 2 days until he opened his big mouth against the London Mayor and the attacks in London immediately after it happened...instead of passing his condolences and support like other world leaders did.  If he'd kept his trap shut...I think he may have gained more momentum with beginning to win over the public that didn't vote for him.  Couldn't help himself, I guess.

Actually he liked Obama.  

My main beef with Trump is that he doesn't appear to show much respect for the office he holds, and makes the USA look like a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

It might.  The fact that some of the officers standing behind him laughed and applauded when he said that won't help public morale, either.

 

I truly hope he comes to realize that while freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but when you are speaking as POTUS words have consequences because they can set off actions---good and bad.  People see the President say or do something and think "well he made it ok to do that/say that" because as President he is supposed to represent the nation's cores and values.

 

There are some things he's put into effect that are a good thing, and some stuff I don't necessarily agree with.  Most of what he says I cannot agree with, not because of the substance of what he is speaking about---but because of how he comes across when saying it, and the wording he uses.  Trump always talked about how he's "not a politician".  When you are President you do have to sound like one, though, when speaking as the representative of all people in the United States, and choose your words a bit more carefully.  And there are plenty of instances where he has said something derogatory or distasteful.

 

I hope Trump does succeed in doing great things for the US people.  I really do.  To want Trump to fail (even if I don't support him wholeheartedly) is to want America to fail as a country.  

So far, personally, I haven't seen much coming out of this administration that leads me to believe he will leave office with a good approval rating and I would be very surprised if he got another 4 years just based on some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth.   He digs his own grave, in that aspect.
