How long for your citizenship?

Actually, I just called them and they said that there was nothing unusually long with this application...hmmm...so I guess the advertised time frames are made up? ;-)

Where I live, I know at least 3 people who were in the same situation I was, same work place, applied to the same office, in March 2016, and where citizens on time to vote.

I got my interview in june this year, so clearly a bit late to vote...I know of one person who interviewed a week after I did, and whose oath ceremony is scheduled already (same city, same office, heck we had the same IO)...so it's hard to not think it's a bit personal :) (I know it isn't, but it's frustrating)

The waiting is the hardest part of this whole thing---I'm sure you'll hear something sooner rather than later.

So you applied 11 months after I did and will be a citizen before I am ;-) sigh...I'm past background check since I had the interview and approval now. Just waiting for the oath ceremony.

BTW the background check continues after the interview, according to others who have heard that from various L2 officers.

I guess because they need to confirm any statements you made during your interview when answering specific questions the IO focused on.

It also depends on whether you got the fully approved passing after the interview, or the "your case is under review/decision cannot be made yet" approval passing.

Frank! You are scared me I am going to send my case to Jacksonville Florida and Going to apply soon under 3 years rules for Citizenship :(

Several friends in the same area applied to the same office after I did, and were citizens within 6 months of application.

So hopefully your application won't get stuck in citizenlimbo as mine was.

I filed  October 4th, 2016. The interview was July 12, not heard from them in regard to the oath.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

It can depend on certain things...did you get an actual approval after your interview, or did you get the "decision cannot be made now" or "under supervisor review" after your interview?

If you got the wholehearted approval---congrats!  It can still take anywhere up to a few months or so before they can schedule you into an oath ceremony.

If you got the "decision cannot  be made" or "under supervisor review"---Sometimes it can be a couple of weeks, sometimes it can take several months before you will be in line for an oath scheduling.

Since you are already close to 2 months, I would take your copy of the letter the IO gave you after your interview and schedule an Infopass to talk to someone in person.

Hi, i was just curious to know , is there any difference between " decision cannot be made" and "under supervisor review" or they are the same? because in my interview day (June)  a decision couldn't be made and since that day the online status didnt change to " under supervisor review" when i called the NCS i was told a decision cannt be made yet, i thought i will here my case under supervisor review, Thanks

No real difference in how much time either one of processes takes...and not always something to worry about.

Sometimes it's just standard procedure to be placed under supervisor review (for example, the IO could be new on the job and all of their cases have to pass through a supervisor first, I've heard of that happening before and the IO being apologetic to the applicant when explaining why they couldn't approve it right away).  Sometimes a decision cannot be made because they want to double-check information you provided at the interview (ie. maybe check into some of your travel dates further through their own databases).

Normally, it clears up quick enough and the applicant is put into the line for oath scheduling.

Thanks, i wish after waiting now for almost 1 month to have an immediate update in the future weeks like : inline for oath, my  online status : "interview was scheduled" , makes me feel so confused, im not sure if they are working on my case or no, if really they are looking at it or its just on pause,i'm wondering how long should i wait more if the status will change to " under supervisor review" then i have to wait for the supervisor review to be complete....... because most of those they get the letter saying " a decision cannot be made" their status change to " under supervisor review" in the same day of interview, my case looks different
