You would have to try it and see for yourself.  I can't say for sure---I'm not a paper filer---as I said, make an account on ELIS and see if it gives you any information about your case.  Doesn't hurt to try.

You will always get paper notices, whether you filed online or not.

you can try to make an account on the ELIS site and see if it will allow you to view anything once you plug in your existing case number (n400 receipt number)--worth a shot.

Once you file paper version, then uscis.gov  site is the only way you can see the updates if there are any since it doesnt work half the time.

Elis account would only work if you filed N400 online. I mean one can still make an elis account but NBC number wont let you access it.
It asks for some online access code which you wont have once you filed paper.

**If someone can call them after making an Elis account and ask for the code then maybe you can access it but i am not sure and dont wanna deal with them over the phone so i never tried :P

The online access code is just a random set of numbers emailed to you every time you want to sign in (ELIS asks for your email address when you sign up for an account).  It's not any sort of special code, and changes with a new email message and new access number each time you want to sign in to your account.

I just suggested to the poster above to try to sign up for an ELIS account to see if they can see anything on their case since the person seems anxious about receiving online notices/not receiving online notices.

I agree that it's most likely they won't see anything if they sign up for an ELIS account, as I told them, since they mailed in their application---but, if they really want to try...well, ya never know.

@Going through Online access code is different than the "one-time" password you are referring to. One time password lets you log in but in order to see your case, if someone didn't file online, they ask for Online Access code (which according to them) is sent in the mail.

I just printed n400 and filed that day without even looking properly or knowing that one can file online and also because i was away from this site for a while. On the paper application itself, there is an optional question asking if you know your account id, put it there. Which i didnt :(. Maybe if i have done that, then my NOA would have had that online access code according to the sample image they have online. But i am not sure.

So right now after signing into my elis account with one time password, i cant see anything about the case because i didnt file online. :(:(:(

Other people mentioned somewhere on this site and other that once you have NBC/paper version then elis wont work for them ....

Well that sucks.  It's too bad they don't make online notices available no matter how one files simply by plugging in the receipt number.  I wonder if anyone who did file the paper application actually did receive the mailed online access code, then.

I could have sworn that someone in this thread, who was a paper filer, had been able to see updates re: the biometrics portion in ELIS by signing up...maybe I was mistaken---or they *had* gotten the mailed account number by then.

Nope, at least not me, neither on the NOA nor on the biometrics appointment letter. And to confirm what rangrut says, I tried several times to access information online on the ELIS site that you online filers use, but it seems that no paper filer receives this online access code in the mail. We're stuck with the little to no updates on the other USCIS site -_-

So I completed my biometrics on Wednesday and now online it says

We reviewed your biometrics. You do not need to do anything at this time
Estimated wait time until we schedule your interview:   21 months

21months??? This should be fun.... Let's hope this online system is still full of bugs and not working correctly on estimates

@danielp60 Glad that you've moved on to the next step. I am sure the timeline is not accurate because we have seen many times (for different people) that the estimated time have changed multiple times. Mine already got changed from April 2018 to October 2018 and it's been stuck on it since my biometrics.

It's definitely not working correctly with regards to estimates.  I have my PDF interview appointment date showing in my account----and my "estimated wait time for case completion" is still saying 11 months.  So, unless they are planning on making me wait 10 months for an oath ceremony....:jest:

Hi,

Is this real or do you think they are just toying with me?

In my https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ the front page shows interview scheduled (see attached). Last updated 8/19/17

But when I click case activity (blue box color) it still showed we reviewed your biometrics. In Ellis it also showed fingerprint scheduled. I am thinking the "interview scheduled" is like a default thing after fingerprint?

I got that same message...within the next day or so it changed to "read the letter we mailed you" and the next day ELIS updated to show the same thing.  Keep checking online.

Congrats :) Read my timeline below and you'll see how it quickly changed...
