I think you mean your 2016 tax return filed in 2017 was $70k.  In that case, you shouldn't need a joint sponsor.  However, your "current income" is not based on any tax return.  State your current income as your gross pay for one pay period, times the number of pay periods in a full year, then document it with a current pay stub.  You'll be stating income from tax returns for 2016, 2015 and 2014.  It sounds like you didn't file FOR 2014.  You haven't filed yet for 2017.  The last tax return you could possibly have filed would be the 2016 tax return.

Yes, you're right. For 2016 I earned $70k. 2015 earned $10k. 2014 did not file. So based on this I should not get a joint sponsor if I understand correctly.
