My fiance has a 4 year old daughter and her biological father is nowhere to be found. We have no idea how to contact this guy. His name is not on her birth certificate either. I was wondering if there was any kind of documentation we would have to provide even though she has full custody? They are Japanese.

I don't think that would be a problem considering she was a single mom. I'm a single mom too. My son's dad wasn't registered on his birth certificate either. I guess that's a good thing coz I don't need to ask papers from him just to bring my son with me. I didn't bring my son yet with me. I just got my visa this month but they gave me an option during my interview to bring him if i want too. But i told them, later on. So they just asked for my son's birth certificate copy so it will be on their file already once i decided to bring him someday.

She can bring her daughter with her without any problem i guess. They can see in her daughter's b.cert anyway that her father was unknown. So they won't ask more about it. :)

God bless.

You would have to check with the consulate or embassy in Japan to find out what needs to be done.  They may require her to find the bio dad or at least put effort into it before allowing her to immigrate.  They may also say it's no big deal because he was never in the child's life and isn't on the birth certificate.  Each country is different.  Check in your regional forum.  We can move this thread there if you'd like.
