 Hello.

My fiancé and I will be getting married later this year and will subsequently be filing a change of status over from her K1. I'm worried about the green card interview later down the road when her application is under review. You see, I work overseas as a Government contractor in Saudi Arabia and won't be living with her until I find suitable work stateside (after her interview) that can support us and our new born son. It is this fact that is haunting me. While we have plenty of evidence to support our relationship for about three years now, including travel to the states and her country, I'm worried that our case may be rejected given that I don't reside with her and my son for the first few months of marriage. They will be living with my family and she'll be working on taking the qualifying nursing exam for future employment purposes.

Should I be worried about this? If so, what can I do to mitigate the situation? Bringing them over to Saudi isn't really an option as the process for a marriage visa is horribly long and I am honestly trying to get out of there next year.

thank you for your advice!

All you can do is continue to collect all the relationship information you can, and make sure you commingle your relationship with things like utility bills, bank accounts, etc.  Also, I assume your wife will be living at the address you also call home when you are stateside?  I am sure there are others in the same boat being either an expat, or military person, so if you even do get called for an interview, make sure you provide what you can.

Good Luck!
