I posted this already in main K1 forum but maybe I can get more answers in Philippines specific area.

I am 23 and using a co sponsor (my mom) for my fiance's visa. I have heard Philippines doesn't usually accept co sponsors even if it is a parent. I am a part time student I only work like, 30 hours a week at a fast food restaurant lol, definitely not meeting 125% poverty for 2 people plus I have absolutely 0 tax info as I've not yet earned enough to need to. my mom however is a senior attorney and makes well over 400% poverty for all people in our house plus my fiance. initially I felt good about my chances but something worries me. Will I need to provide proof that I am a current student? Because I would like to take a gap year and work full time in preparation for my fiances arrival. So say, I don't register for classes in the fall, will Philippines need to know about that?

Your mother is a very strong co-sponsor so I would bet that you won't having any problems especially with her income and employment speciality.  Being a student and not earning money is not a big concern with USEM when you have a co-sponsor. Yes, Philippines does take co-sponsors but on a case by case basis. As I see it you really don't have any concerns. Having something from school that shows you're enrolled in a full-time study program would be a plus when presented to the interviewing CO. Here is a link to the Embassy letter for other items that are required for the interview. Use it as a check list.

so I should definitely stay in school then? To increase my chances?

As was mentioned, it's case by case, generally I have heard they will accept a co-sponsor for people in school or recently graduated; but is case by case. I would keep schooling ofcourse and provide something to show you are currently attending.

You should stay in school. No one can say for sure if it helps or not to stay in school but I think its better because it can't harm you ANF that you don't interrupt your schooling.

USEM is not required to accept a co-sponsor with the K-1 visa, but they are know to accept them at times.  Having a close family member as the co-sponsor is something the embassy looks for, so you mom for sure increased your odds.  I know of a fair number of college students or recent graduates that were approved with parents as a co-sponsor.

I would think it would also be helpful if you had a letter from your college where you are enrolled.

With all of this said, since 2014 USEM has been sporadic with even asking for support evidence.  For sure be prepared, but don't be surprised if your fiancee leaves the interview with the support documents still in hand.

Does this mean they approved these couples who's evidence wasn't checked or just denied all of them?

They were approved... and are now in the USA.  :)

Do be prepared just the same, the other is a roll of the dice... not a time to gamble.
