Social Security numbers and the "AOS" form

A U.S. citizen (woman) met a Colombian man and he came to the U.S. on a K-1 visa. They got married in the U.S. He has two small kids......10 and 8 I think. They are ready to file the "Adjustment of Status" paper work. They went to the Social Security office and filed for his social security number and are awaiting his card now. The office told them the kids do not need a social security number because they are K-2's. I assume they meant for the visa stuff.

Question......He's a K-1 and the kids are K-2's. Is he the only one that needs a social security number or do the kids need one on the "AOS" form also?

K-2's are not eligible for a SSN until they have their Green Cards.

K-1's are not required to have a SSN in order to file for AOS. I didn't apply for my SSN until after I submitted my AOS application. Just write "None" where it asks for the SSN.
