Hi All,

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this. My fiance and I decided to marry in Norway and cancel our pending fiance visa. Does anyone know what we should do? I have drafted a letter to mail to USCIS with a copy of our NOA1 but didn't know if this was the right procedure.

I tried to call the help line and couldn't get beyond the menu of options.

Thanks!

Lauren

The proper terminology is to "withdraw" the petition. Just indicate that in the letter. Notarization is a good idea.

Lauren,

I did what you are proposing to do. I wrote to the USCIS SC that had my I-129f petition and told them I was withdrawing it because I had married my fiancee. (Four months later they wrote back saying that they had already approved the petition, so I wrote to the consulate telling them to send the petition back when they received it. I never did get an Approval Notice.)

I did wait until after marriage to withdraw the I-129f petition, just in case we might change our minds again about when and where to marry.
