My wife from the Philippines told me that she tried to correct the spelling of her middle name on her BC and spent over 90K pesos trying to fix it. And the courts never fixed it. She believes that the courts for some strange reason have a very difficult time trying to fix BCs. She thinks it will never happen.

Really, went court, how many years ago?    That can be corrected at the local registry without any court appear.  Law was passed about 5 years back to allow mis-spelled name and such to be corrected at the local registry, then forward to PSA (was NSO).

Where to File

  • If born in the Philippines

    • The petition shall be filed with the local civil registry office of the city or municipality where the birth is registered.

Hank, this was maybe around 12 years ago. But she doesn't care now because her middle name is her last name. And thank you for that info.

Yes... y'all are "there" ... all is good. ;)
