Hello everyone. I was the one who asked about AOS just 2 days ago. I'm here to ask more questions. Thank you.

As I said on my last topic, I said that I've been here in the US for 3 years, with K1, got married within 90 days upon arrival, never filed for AOS as my husband got hurt from his job - in short, I've been out of status - we plan on filing AOS probably in June ( we will save first for everything ) Now I have a few questions:

1. My passport is expired, do I renew it first before filing AOS?

2. I never done Report of Marriage either, do I need to do that first as well?

3. Do I put my new last name on the passport? Do I put exactly the same name to file for AOS or should it be my name when I was single?

4. If I file for AOS without my medical examination, will it affect the waiting time or affect the approval of my AOS? Can I file AOS first and send back the med exam if they ask for it? ( Don't have enough money for med exam, buy I really want my papers to start already )

Thank you.

1. Not sure myself if you need to or not.

2. Report of marriage? Did you ever officially file the marriage certificate in your county?

3. If you changed your name after marriage you can use the married name, just show them you changed your name with some paperwork.

4. Not entirely sure but honestly if you don't supply it with the AOS packet they may reject it as an incomplete packet..... or they may just send RFE for it later on, hard to say myself.

You also need to definately evaluate everything as cost for AOS even went up(which I'm sure you're aware of) and as noted, the medical can be fairly costly also.

1. Thanks

2. I'm not entirely sure. I do have our marriage certificate. But do I need to file for something else in the county?

3. That I'm not sure as well. Because like I said I've been out of status for 3 years. Never filed for anything, never got any ID or social sec ID, so I am not sure what you mean if I have changed my name - which I'd say is still the same name

4. Thank you. I guess it would be better if it's complete before we file.

Thank you. I saw on the USCIS site that it will be $1225. And I called legit doctors here in my area and I have to say that the medical is expensive.

2. Once marriage with the marriage license, after you have to file it with the county clerk again otherwise it's like it never took place...

3. changed name like maiden to married, if you legally changed your last name to your spouses.

And depending on where you are yes the medical can be like $400-500 I have heard.
