NVC received my case on 02/17 and I called NVC yesterday and they informed me that no visa is available because they still have me listed as a PR. I became a citizen back in July of last year and we informed the USCIS to upgrade the case, even the officer that interviewed me for the I-130 in January saw my citizenship certificate and has a copy of it. It looks like its a screw up by the USCIS. NVC has requested that I email them my citizenship certificate, which I did. Does anyone know how long a review and upgrade can take for a situation like that?

should contact NVC and not uscis since nvc will be the one doing the final stage of your case. at this moment nvc is taking between 8 to 12 weeks to review the documents.

First time I ever heard of an upgrade being available from petitioning as an LPR to petitioning as a US citizen.

yes you can upgrade your petition once you become USA citizen

I am an US Citizen. I became a citizen during the I-130 application phase and we notified USCIS so that my case was upgraded. I'm just surprised that NVC does know about me being a citizen. Don't they get the package from USCIS? So confusing.

they do get the packege did you send your citizenship certificate to uscis when you upgrade? or just told uscis verbally

I became a citizen when the I-130 was still pending with USCIS, thats why we had to inform them. I went in for an interview, got approved and case was sent to NVC. So my question is, how did the fact that I am now a citizen gets lost. They interviewed me, officer saw my certificate and passport everything. Doesnt make any sense.

if you don't notified NVC you self they won't know that you become a citizen. do not depend on uscis to do it for you. the normally don't do it or they forget.

did call nvc to see if they have receive yet?

I sent it last night via email after I talked to NVC. I will call tonight and see how long the processing time is. Very frustrating this waiting game. And we cant pay any fees or move forward, until we are upgraded. )-:
