Eligibility to work after getting married

Hi, I would like to ask something here.Im on K1 Visa. Set to fly this coming March 21.

After I get married, how long would it takes for me to be able to get a Job? I don't want to depend on my fiancee's financial state. He''s been spending a lot ever since we started the k1 visa process. I don't want to sit in US and relax while he's working for our future. and Would US recognize my Education background?

Thanks for that. Do you know how long it normally takes?

Also. After I get married, and if I was able too obtain my Temporary Green card? Would I be eligible to go back too the Philippines? Or I woould need to have the Actual green card before I can do so?

It might take 1- 3 months to get the work permit. 

 

You will need a Advance Parole permission to travel outside of the US, by filling the form I-131. You canapply for Adjustment of status with EAD and AP at the same time. But if you dont have any neccessary reason to go, I recommend you to stay until you get your green card.

After you get married, you can file for AOS + EAD + AP. EAD is your work permit, and generally takes roughly 90 days to get approved currently.

 

As for your education, it really depends on the employer. If your profession requires a certification or license to practice within the US, then you will need to obtain that as well. For instance, a registered nurse generally requires a license from the state's Board of Nursing. Obtaining this usually requires passing the NCLEX. Qualifying for the NCLEX when you were taught overseas requires credential validation, such as that through CGFNS.

 

If no license or such is required for your profession, then then it's up to the employer to decide if you are qualified or not. It may not hurt to attach something such as a listing of courses covered since many employers probably won't have any idea how to evaluate education (albeit many fields don't really care so long as you can just do the job).
