Country: Hong Kong

Hi there,

I have a couple questions while filling in the I129F and G325A forms, if anyone can answer them that would be great.

1) For country of residence and the form asks for City, Country. Same applies for Part 2 36A/B when it asks where you will file your visa for your fiance it asks city and country

is it Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China

Kowloon, Hong Kong

or Kowloon, China?

She lives in Lam Tin District

2) How exactly do you enter a Hong Kong address into the Form?

as an example:

Housing Department Lam Tin Estate Office

G/F, Lam Tai House, Lam Tin Estate, Lam Tin

Kowloon

What goes into Street Name and number? I looked this up from their government housing site for a neighboring estate and there is no street name or number given

What is the City/Town? Lam Tin or Kowloon

What is the Zip Code or Postal Code for Hong Kong? Again the official government page does not have a zip code or postal code

Is there a province? and again country is Hong Kong or China?

Thanks.

1. It would be listed as Hong Kong, China  (Hong Kong is pretty independant of China, but it is still part of China, governed by the "one country, two systems policy". They are part of China, but the Chinese governement granted them many freedoms not afforded to MLC).

2. When I entered my Wife's Chinese address, we just typed it in best we could. It appeared something like this.   "Street Name, Housing Area, Bldg-Floor-Room".

For entering her address, do not keep such concern for them to be able to understand how you wrote it. Instead write it down in such a way that if a letter was addressed to that location, it would be deliverable.

Hong Kong does not have Provinces like China does, instead they have Districts. Lam Tin is part of the Kwun Tong district.

Mail sent to China MAY not reach Hong Kong - they are VERY separate administrative entities.

When crossing the border from China into Hong Kong, you exit China on one side of the river, walk across the river, and enter Hong Kong on the other. Passports are stamped at both points.

But this web site - http://www.bitboost.com/ref/international-address-formats/hong-kong/ - suggests you list PRC on a separate line, but I think this is more common " Typically, when I write back to Hong Kong (or when I shop online), Hong Kong (SAR) is the country. "

"Hong Kong has no postcodes (no postal codes) at this time! The special territory still lets humans be humans and robots be robots."
